Welcome

Welcome to the Abbeyfield New Zealand web site

Abbeyfield is a not-for-profit organisation providing companionship and an affordable home for older people.

The Abbeyfield method of operation is to promote and establish local community-based and volunteer-led Abbeyfield Societies. They, in turn, create and manage local Abbeyfield Houses providing lonely older people a dignified way of life at a weekly housekeeping charge affordable from state sourced welfare payments or the equivalent.

Features

Abbeyfield Chairman, JB Munro of Dunedin, writes for the Abbeyfield newsletter

How time flies! I thought by growing older, time would slow down but it does not and here we are approaching the end of another calendar year and the festive season is almost upon us. The Christmas and New Year period is often a time to refl ect back on where we’ve been and also to look forward to where we are going.
